Question:
Hi im 18 years old I play soccer in the highest division in my city, I live in canada and I play Right back, Just wondering if I still have a shot at playing pro.
Answer:
Sahand, this is a question I here very often from young aspiring pro's like yourself.
First you need to decide where and at which level you want to play. Yes I know you said "Pro" but pro in the 1st Division in Europe is much different then pro in South America, or the MLS or in Canada.
Once you decide that you need to know the proccess of getting to the professional ranks in that desired league.
You said you are from Canada, if you wish to play there you must find out the process of getting there and work backwards.
Maybe it's calling clubs and asking to get a tryout. Maybe it's showing up to a training session and talking to the coach afterwards. Whatever it may be you need to know figure out the proccess and start working on it.
If it's somewhere outside of the country you live in you will need develop contacts, or better yet get an agent (this is what I did) who has the contacts already.
If you are truly serious about playing professionally then getting an agent is a must, but before you contact an agent you will need to put together a CV (soccer resume), highlight tape and collect full game footage of yourself playing.
You can find out the proccess to do so at Professional Soccer Tryouts
To answer your question about your age specifically I would say no it is not impossible at 18 years old. Everybody's situation is different so it is difficult for somebody say by age "X" you can't turn pro anymore.
There are different factors that go into it such as your quality, previous playing experience and contacts.
So what you need to take from this message is that you need to start creating a portfolio to start sending to potential agents or potenial scouts.
If you end up getting a professional soccer tryout through an agent then being physically fit for it is an absolute must.
If you're serious about playing professionally then having a PRO Fitness Program is essential to your success. You can get yours at, 6 Week PRO Fitness Training Program Page
Good luck to you,
