Question/Comment:
What did you do at a young age to get where you are now?
Answer
Christine, this is a very good question because I believe nobody gets anywhere without putting in the work.
Every person in anything they do has their own unique path to getting what and to where they want in life. My path was similar to many players growing up in some respects, I'd play with a club team growing up a couple nights a week and mathces on the weekends.
My whole life I wanted to play professionally and relized that I would have to put in more work then what everybody else is putting in to set myself apart from the crowd.
That's my first piece of advice,
1) See what everybody around you is doing, take what works for them, and out do them. First one to show up, last one to leave.
I then went to University in the USA and played there for four years before going on to play professionally in Europe.
At University I dedicated every second outside of the classroom to my game. Whether it was 5 minutes between class, or late nights on a dark pitch I was always working on things I needed to improve but one at a time. That's my second tip,
2) When Improving a Skill, Put all your effort into one until you've perfected it then move on, don't work on 5 different things everyday you'll get nowhere.
Yes I could tell you I worked on my touch or my fitness or whatever it may be but the thing I did above all else (being a competitive player) I wanted to out work and out play everybody I went up against. Whether that was coming early, staying late or running an extra sprint I always wanted to outwork everybody.
Finally my final tip would be to enjoy the ride.
3) Believe in yourslef and your abilities and enjoy what you're doing no matter what age you are at.
No secrets here Christine just plain old hard work and determination, never settling for second best.
If you want to take your game to the next level then having a training program like the professionals is important so you know where you're at and where you need to be.
This 6 Week PRO Fitness Program will get you training like a pro day in and day out.
Christine I hope this has been helpful and remember to do more then the player next to you.
Good Luck,
Filip
